In 2022, Samsung introduced its Gaming Hub service, which revolutionized gaming on Samsung TVs. This groundbreaking service seamlessly integrates games from major streaming platforms onto your television screen. Initially accessible solely on 2022 Samsung smart TVs, support was rapidly expanded to include 2021 models in a mere five months. The latest development, unveiled at Gamescom 2023, revealed that the Gaming Hub app will soon extend its reach to 2020 smart TVs later this year.

For those unacquainted with this service, Samsung Gaming Hub serves as your ultimate gaming companion for Samsung TVs. It empowers you to directly stream games from the cloud, eliminating the need for a gaming console or streaming device. It boasts an extensive library of games sourced from top-tier streaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW, and even Google Stadia (which has since ceased operations).

Moreover, it doubles as a versatile entertainment hub, enabling you to seamlessly transition between gaming, music streaming through Spotify, and watching videos on YouTube. The service leverages AI upscaling technology to provide support for Samsung’s 4K and 8K TV models, enhancing the visual experience for games that may not have native 4K or 8K support.

Samsung Gaming Hub is designed to accommodate 90% of Bluetooth controllers, and it even offers support for virtual controllers. Whether you prefer the tactile feel of a physical controller or the convenience of touch controls, Samsung Gaming Hub caters to your gaming preferences.

For owners of 2020 Samsung TVs, the good news is that they will soon gain access to an array of cloud gaming and multimedia services. This announcement was made by Mike Lucero, Samsung’s Head of Product for Gaming, during a presentation at Gamescom. He shared the exciting news:

“We are delighted to announce today that we will be extending our cloud gaming apps to our 2020 model-year TVs later this year, granting tens of millions of players access to their beloved games and services.”

Although a specific release date has not yet been confirmed for the availability of cloud gaming apps on 2020 Samsung TVs, it is expected to occur before the close of 2023. This development is particularly noteworthy for gamers who own older Samsung TVs, as it eliminates the need to invest in a separate gaming console or streaming device to enjoy cloud gaming.
